Bubishi no Ken

The Bubishi no Ken as shown to the left is a mark with great importance and meaning and it saddens me that even today many connected with or even wearing the mark have no understanding of this. During a conversation with Ichikawa Sosui Sensei 10th Dan Koshudo he counselled me and advised that it was created with the 3 meanings and these must always be held within the mind to ensure the intention is present.

The first is that the box represents Form (Kata) and the fist represents breaking the form as through the teachings of the bubishi one is able to understand hente and as such break free of the form and apply it within kumite and jissen.

The second is that the box represents the shape of the bubishi in the book form and one must apply and understand the bubishi in the physical form not just the mental.

The third meaning is that the mark is placed over the kokoro (heart) as lessons from the bubishi must be received and given from the heart, giving strength to the heart felt technique.

Nothing within the Bubishi no Ken lineage is perfume all has meaning and purpose, to wear something with out knowledge of its meaning or purpose demonstrates the lowest levels thought, remember think before you think.
